Menanti Duel Klasik Taufik vs Lin Dan

Setelahnya, pertemuan keduanya selalu seru.

Sekarang, mari kita lihat."

    Mampukah Taufik?

    Skandal @ 2012 London Olympic

London 2012: Women badminton players charged with “throwing” their matches

LONDON — The World Badminton Federation charged eight players with misconduct on Wednesday after each team in two women’s Olympic doubles encounters tried to “throw” the matches to secure a more favourable draw later on.

“The pairs have been charged ... with ‘not using one’s best efforts to win a match’ and ‘conducting oneself in a manner that is clearly abusive or detrimental to the sport’,” the federation said in a statement.

World doubles champions Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang of China and their South Korean opponents were booed loudly during their matches Tuesday in Wembley Arena for appearing to try and lose their badminton group match to earn an easier draw.

Wang and Yu and the team of Jung Kyun-eun and Kim Ha-na dumped serves into the net and made simple errors. The longest rally was only four strokes. The umpire warned the women midway through the first game. Tournament referee Torsten Berg then spoke to all four players but it had little effect.

Eventually, the Chinese women lost 21-14, 21-11 and both pairs were jeered off the court.

The teams had already qualified for the last 16, but the result ensured that the top-seeded Wang and Yu will avoid playing their No. 2-seeded teammates until the final.

The problem was repeated in the next women’s doubles between South Korea’s Ha Jung-eun and Kim Min-jung and Indonesia’s Meiliana Jauhari and Greysia Polii. Both teams were also warned for deliberately losing points in a match the Koreans won 18-21, 21-14, 21-12. The capacity crowd vented their displeasure on them, too.

Yu said they were only trying to save energy for the knockout rounds starting on Wednesday.

“We would try hard in every match if they were elimination games,” she said. “Because they are group stage, that’s why we are conserving energy.

“If we’re not playing the best it’s because it doesn’t matter. If we’re the first or the second (in the group) we’re already through. The most important thing is the elimination match tomorrow.”

The South Koreans filed a protest with the referees.

“It’s not like the Olympics spirit to play like this,” said head coach Sung Han-kook. “How could the No. 1 pair in the world play like this? They start playing mistakes. Their attitude is absolute crap.”

London 2012: badminton players booed after farce

Chinese and South Koreans appear to try to throw game to affect pairings in knockout competition

The women's doubles competition at London 2012 descended into farce and scandal at Wembley Arena as two pairs appeared to deliberately start playing to lose.

Chinese top seeds Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang and the South Koreans, Jung Kyung-eun and Kim Ha-na, were booed off after an extraordinary match in which players regularly served into the net or hit wide apparently on purpose.

Both pairs had already qualified for the last 16 and their actions appeared to be an attempt to manipulate the final standings in Group A.

The reasons for both pairs wishing to do this were unclear, but by ultimately losing the match, the Chinese now cannot play their compatriots and second seeds Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei until the final.

Tian and Zhao were sent off their natural path to the final as second seeds after losing to Denmark's Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen earlier in the day. The downside to losing is that they could face a theoretically tougher quarter-final.

The Korean pair left court without speaking to waiting reporters to explain the reasons for their involvement in the fiasco after the 23-minute match.

Yu claimed she wanted to ease up ahead of the knockout phase.

She said: "Actually, these opponents really were strong. This is the first time we've played them and tomorrow it's the knockout rounds, so we've already qualified and we wanted to have more energy for the knockout rounds.

"Really, it's not necessary to go out hard again when the knockout rounds are tomorrow."

The Korean pair won the match 21-14 21-11. The longest rally in the first game was four strokes.

Match referee Thorsten Berg came on to court at one point to warn the players.

The farce continued later in the evening when another Korean pair, the third seeds Ha Jung-eun and Kim Min-jung, appeared to start playing up against Indonesia's Meiliana Jauhari and Greysia Polii.

Both pairs had also already qualified for the next stage from Group C, the connection with the earlier incident being that the pool winners would play Wang and Yu next.

The Korean pairs would play each other in the quarter-finals if Ha and Kim lost.

Berg returned to court and brandished the black card, which means disqualification, but after protests from the Indonesians it was rescinded and the match resumed.

Paisan Rangsikitpho, a member of the Badminton World Federation's technical committee, said the governing body was aware of what had happened. "We will have a real discussion tonight to see what has happened, but I have to get all the facts."

Whatever the reasons for the bizarre spectacle, it is certain to spark debate about the decision to introduce a round-robin stage as opposed to holding a straight knockout tournament.

The spotlight will also be cast once again on the Chinese, who dominate world badminton but have been accused of manipulation before.

Petya Nedelcheva, the Bulgarian women's singles 15th seed, who was playing on an adjacent court at the time of the first incident, was forthright in her general criticism of China. "China control everything," she said. "I don't know who controlled the match to lose but if it is China again, they did it so many times last year, they didn't play against each other in 20 matches. They do what they want."

Nedelcheva's comments are supported by figures compiled by online magazine Badzine earlier this year showing that of the 99 all-Chinese matches played in major tournaments in 2011, 20 were walkovers.

Charged! Badminton stars face hearing after farcical pursuit of deliberate defeat

In scenes of farce at Wembley Arena on Tuesday night, a pair from China, two from South Korea and another from Indonesia seemed to want to lose in an attempt to manipulate the draw.

The Badminton World Federation have launched disciplinary proceedings after four women's doubles pairs apparently tried to throw matches at London 2012.

A statement from the BWF confirmed that all four pairs would face charges of 'not using one's best efforts to win a match' and 'conducting oneself in a manner that is clearly abusive or detrimental to the sport'.

A disciplinary hearing will be held on Wednesday morning with a decision announced in due course.

At present all four pairs are included in the order of play with their quarter-finals scheduled for the evening session.

All the players were booed by an irate crowd as serves were deliberately hit into the net and shots hit wide and long on an embarrassing evening for the sport.

The fiasco began when Chinese top seeds Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang started to show little interest in beating Koreans Jung Kyung-eun and Kim Ha-na to finish top of Group A.

Coming second would have meant avoiding compatriots and second seeds Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei at least until the final.

Tian and Zhao had been sent off their natural path to the final as second seeds by defeat to Denmark's Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen earlier in the day.

The Koreans responded to China's antics by copying them and referee Thorsten Berg emerged to warn all the players.

The match restarted and the Koreans went on to win 21-14, 21-11. The startling statistic revealed the longest rally in the first game had been just four strokes.

The matter did not end there as a second Korean pair, the third seeds Ha Jung-eun and Kim Min-jung, then attempted to engineer defeat in their match against Indonesia's Meiliana Jauhari and Greysia Polii.

Their motive was apparent retaliation to avoid Wang and Yu in the quarter-finals, an outcome they failed to achieve as they eventually won 18-21, 21-14, 21-12.

The Indonesians were not bystanders in the affair either as they responded to the Koreans by trying to lose themselves.

With the crowd getting increasingly restless, Berg again intervened and brandished the black card to disqualify the players.

He quickly rescinded his decision on protest but returned courtside, despite an attempt to restrain him by the Indonesia coach, as the histrionics - now including time-wasting - continued.

Korea's coach Sung Han-kook laid the blame squarely at the feet of China.

He said: 'The Chinese started this. They did it first. It's a complicated thing with the draws. They didn't want to meet each other in the semi-final, they don't want that to happen. They [BWF] should do something about that.'

Yu claimed the Chinese tactics had simply been to preserve energy ahead of the knockout phase.

She said: 'Actually these opponents really were strong. This is the first time we've played them and tomorrow it's the knockout rounds, so we've already qualified and we wanted to have more energy for the knockout rounds.'

Polii stopped briefly to reporters after her match to offer a Bulgarian explanation.

She said: 'I don't know what happened. If that's the game, we have to accept all the things. Either they want to trust us - we play bad or we play good. That is our control. Our control is only to play as good as we can.'

Whatever reasons for the bizarre spectacle, it is certain to spark debate about the decision to introduce a round-robin stage as opposed to holding a straight knockout tournament.

The spotlight will also be cast once again on the Chinese, who dominate world badminton but have been accused of manipulation before.

Petya Nedelcheva, the Bulgarian women's singles 15th seed who had been playing on an adjacent court at the time of the first incident, was forthright in her general criticism.

She said: 'China control everything. I don't know who controlled the match to lose but if it is China again, they did it so many times last year, they didn't play against each other in 20 matches. They do what they want.'

Nedelcheva's comments are supported by figures compiled by online magazine Badzine earlier this year which show that of the 99 all-Chinese matches played in major tournaments in 2011, 20 were walkovers.

Gail Emms, an Olympic silver medallist in 2004, was watching in the arena.

She said: 'It was a disgrace. We had four pairs on court trying to lose - very un-Olympic spirit. I'm furious. It is very embarrassing for our sport.'

International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge had been at the badminton on Tuesday but had left shortly before the drama unfolded.

Olympics badminton: Four pairs charged with not trying

The Badminton World Federation has charged eight Olympic doubles players with "not using one's best efforts to win a match".

Four pairs of players - two from South Korea, one from China and one from Indonesia - could be disciplined.

Constant errors, including players serving into the net, took place.

All four pairs had already qualified for the last eight, and they have been accused of wanting to lose in an attempt to manipulate the draw.

At Wembley Arena on Tuesday night, fans jeered the women's doubles match between China's Yu Yang and Wang Xiaoli and South Koreans Jung Kyung-eun and Kim Ha-na .

The longest rally in the first game lasted four shots, with match referee Thorsten Berg coming on to the court at one point to warn the players.

South Korea won the Group A match, which lasted 23 minutes, 21-14 21-11.

Both pairs were already through to the quarter-finals with the winners to face China's Tian Quing and Zhao Yunlei. The two Chinese pairings can now only meet in the final.

Korea's coach Sung Han-kook said said: "The Chinese started this. They did it first. It's a complicated thing with the draws. They didn't want to meet each other in the semi-final, they don't want that to happen.

"They (BWF) should do something about that."

But Yu said the Chinese decided to preserve energy ahead of the knockout stages.

She said: "Actually these opponents really were strong. This is the first time we've played them and tomorrow it's the knockout rounds, so we've already qualified and we wanted to have more energy for the knockout rounds."

A later match between South Korean third seeds Ha Jung-Eun and Kim Min-Jung and Indonesian pair Meiliana Juahari and Greysia Polii was played out in a similar atmosphere.

Referee Berg returned to court and brandished the black card, signalling disqualification, but it was rescinded and the match resumed when the Indonesians protested.

Both pairs had also already qualified for the knockout stages, with the winners of Group C to play Yu and Wang and the Korean pairs to face each other if Ha and Kim lost.

The Koreans won 18-21 21-14 21-12 and did not comment before leaving the court, but

Polii said: "I don't know what happened. If that's the game, we have to accept all the things.

"Either they want to trust us - we play bad or we play good. Our control is only to play as good as we can."

Gail Emms, a badminton Olympic silver medallist for Great Britain in 2004, who was at the event for BBC Sport, said: "I'm furious. It is very embarrassing for our sport.

"This is the Olympic Games. If badminton wants to save face they should disqualify the two pairs and reinstate the pairs that came third in the group.

"This is something that is not acceptable. The crowd paid good money to watch two matches."

The International Olympic Committee said it had "every confidence" in the badminton federation to "deal with the issue appropriately and take any necessary measures".

China's Olympic sports delegation has begun an investigation into the matches, state media reported. The country's Olympic Committee opposed any behaviour which violated "sporting spirit and morality", a spokesman said.

Further action could be taken based on the results of the investigation, the spokesman said in a report published by Xinhua news agency.

London 2012: Badminton World Federation Launch Proceedings After Women's Doubles Pairs 'Throw Match'

The Badminton World Federation have launched disciplinary proceedings after four women's doubles pairs apparently tried to throw matches at London 2012.

She said: "China control everything. I don't know who controlled the match to lose but if it is China again, they did it so many times last year, they didn't play against each other in 20 matches. They do what they want."

She said: "It was a disgrace. We had four pairs on court trying to lose - very un-Olympic spirit.

"I'm furious. It is very embarrassing for our sport."

International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge had been at the badminton on Tuesday but had left shortly before the drama unfolded.
